System Specs

x1600 and x1300 AGP

It seems that ATI will release AGP versions of this card or at least I think so, read the official specs of both cards

Native PCI Express x16 bus interface
  • AGP 8x configurations also supported with AGP-PCI-E external bridge chip

The 1600 may just be the upgrade I'm looking for.

I can't afford PCI-e and don't want to blow big bucks on a 6800 ultra or a x850xt.

It would be nice if they could do this with one of the lower x1800's too. You should be pretty happy with that upgrade Yousaif.

Then why not go X800XL...

Me too. It seems I usually end up skipping a generation of cards. We may just find that the x1600xt or whatever they name it has performance that at least compares to a x800 or close to it for lower cost.

Who knows? I'll wait and see.

Check out this article http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/vid...eon-x1600.html
To make it short, X1600 is very good in pixel shader heavy situations (though somewhat slower than X800XL), but in other cases it's somewhere between X700Pro and X800XL and often closer to the former.
