256m 9550 > 128 9700Pro?
Well basically, my beloved 9700Pro has just kicked the bucket. At least its about to, I'm getting purple lines vertical lines and hatching on windows and major corruption on anything 3D. Im guessing theres a screwed connector somewhere between the card and the board (if anyone has any other ideas that might be fixable I'd love to hear them)
What I would like to know is what is the minimum I can spend in order to get at least the performance I had from my old card. I just want something to get by just now untill I can afford to get a new Express MB , card and socket 939 CPU. The question is, will something like a 256meg 9550 give me better performance than my old card which was only 128 but had 6 pixle piplines instead of the 9550s 4? Can anyone suggest anything else (preferably ATI) that would be suitable? Thanks. |

Radeon9800pro should give you the same performance and even a little bit more . It can be found around 100$ US by now .
BTW , going 4 pipes would be less effective than your old card even if it has 2 times more memory . |

The 9700Pro will beat the 9550 hands down.
