Are you overclocking the card at all? Even using the overdrive feature can sometimes crank it too hard. What are the temp readings on the card during gameplay?

It could be the memory.
Try underclocking the memory and see if that helps

I eventually gave up on the X600 and chucked in an old X300. The X300 does not have a fan just a heatsink and now it too is glitching up, but not quite as bad as the X600. Im constantly getting game crashes and the screen has a grainy look to it on the desktop.
Any ideas? How can i check the cards temp and memorys temp?

I remember having graphical glitches like this around the time the original Max Payne came out, back then I had an Nvidia 4200 and an 800 MHz Athlon. Truned out that it was the Athlon that was faulty, replacing it cured the problems.

I assume, this is BF2? Many users have been reporting similar issues, seemingly unrelated. It may be driver, or (most likely) game engine related. If other games do not exhibit such behavior, you are likely looking at engine-card problem.

Its not just BF2 its for everything, even the desktop plays up and sometimes the entire computer crashes. Sometimes when a game crashes badly a special ATI error report comes up saying something about the card memory having to be reset? This really sucks

I know it sounds wierd, but the graphics errors were the only symptom of the faulty CPU, everything else was rock solid. I just assumed that it had something to do with the multimedia extensions in it. I gave the faulty CPU non-gamer mate of mine and he never had any problems with it.

It could also be a poor quality PSU, which does not provide clean/sufficient power to your video card and causes the same issues.
What PSU do you have?

The PSU could be the cause if it doesn't have a full 24 pin main connector...the extra 4 pins are for the P.E.G. (PCI-E graphics), and because an X600 has no external power connector it could be overdrawing.

Thanks for your help guys. Its the standard PSU that comes with the new HP Media Center Comp. Im glad you think its the PSU at least thats relatively cheap, i really didnt want to spend more money on a new motherboard.
Do you think this would still cause the problem to just appear out of no where two months after the card was in? Wouldnt it do it as soon as i chucked the x600 in?

It could be over a few months the PSU got dusty and it starts generating less power because more dust equals less dissipated heat.
