"And the answer IS?!?"

RADEON 9500 PRO!!!!! By far and away the best card if you can go as high as $200.

i thought so. everything i have seen online says it will run with the 4600 g force and in some cases slightly outrun it. i currently have a radeon 7000(wiping away tears) will i be able to put the new card in and download the new drivers for it or is there something else i might have to do when switching cards????

Yeah, it'll take nVidia's current bigboy on...and it'll blow it away when you start talking about stuff like "aniso" & "anti-aliasing".

Before you switch cards, it's a good idea to un-install whatever your current card is thru control panel and install the "Standard VGA" drivers on you box. It's gonna be 640x480 hell in un-glorious 16 color (NOT "16 bit", just plain "16" ), but it's the safest way when installing a new card. Then when you get the new card installed and it boots up it'll ask you for the drivers, for some odd reason I always just install the default "Standard VGA" ones first and then go ahead and install the regular drivers. (I think I do it to make sure the card works in that mode, or it's just habit. )

Well now that you are considering the Ti4600 I would think a little more. Cuz there is much overclocking that can be had with the Ti4600. Supposedly it is a bitch to overclock the 9500Pro.

I couldn't agree more here with your method of installing the video card / drivers. I think it not only ensure that the card will work, but Windows actually installs better in this method.

i had considered the 4600 but i want to try the 9500. overclocking is not in the future for me just yet, not until i get some better cooling all i have now is i fan in the case . and with the 2100 amd i have i definitely need a lot more cooling thruout before i get to overclocking. but piece by piece i will get my system the way i want it and get to overclocking it then

It's not too difficult to overclock a 9500 you just need to flash it with an unlocked bios and your set.

8500 over 9000

If you ever consider the 8500 or the 9000, the 8500 is better.
