No signal with new graphics card

I've just bought a Radeon X850 XT PE after swearing off ATI in another thread and it doesn't work. All i get when i switch my PC on is the splash screen and than nothing, the monitor switches off saying that there is no signal. I don't reach the post screen or get any beeps cause it doesn't get that far. I phoned the company and thay asked about my power supply but thats 480W, thay then said the card was probably faulty. I asked for a replacement but i was just wondering if it could have been someting on my PC causing it. I've put my old card back in, a ATI 9800 and that works fine. I just don't want to get the replacement and have it doing the same thing. Anyone heard of this before and the main causes? Thanks

Did you uninstall "ALL" ATi drivers before installing the new card? Also you know that the Card in question needs it's own power source.. so make sure it's plugged in.

Yes i removed the drivers and used Driver Cleaner and i connected it up to my power supply, the fan on it was spinning but that was the only sign of life.

Have you changed your bios setup for the proper Graphics Aperture Size? Not sure if your card is 128 or 256, I think it's the latter of the two so try changing that in your bios and if you have fastwrites on turn that off also.

He said it didn't POST.

I'd say the card was fried somehow, or just didn't work.

Stupid question but have you tried simply re-starting your PC? I am having a similar issue with my X850XT (also had it with my 9800Pro so it's probable a motherboard issue) but after the Windows Logo comes on and it loads it. the screen would "flinch" and shut off. I then have to hard-reboot it once or twice and then have no problems once it goes. Very weird but I don't know what the problem could be.

Are you using the DVI imput? Try the analog. Some are reporting that DVI fails or dont work at all. Saddly this is exactly my case, I was working perfectly for months using a 9700 Pro via DVI to my 2001FP and then, suddenly, it died. I have to use it now on analog.
