Radeon 9250 Gamer Edition and BF2?
Hi,
my brother has a GF4 4200 and as you know BF2 doesnt run on this card. I have a spare Radeon A9250 Gamer Edition (256MB and 128bit bus) and I am wondering if the game will run on this card? it has dx 8.1 and I think its dx8 with pixel shader support or something?
Also whats the performance difference in other games? Is the A9250 faster or slower then the gf4 4200 in CS, HL2, Doom3? etc.?

it's faster and has better shader support... But don't expect 30 frames non stop even on minimum!

That is correct!
the only way to play with 8.1 require moded .dlls and then punkbuster
will ban you from play and your hardware for cheating, in all games that feature
punkbuster. So you could play single player but thats it and its retarted MP is always
far bwetter.

It doesn't have to be a DX9 card, but it does have to have PS1.4

Well thats would mean it would play with anything 8500 and up as
well as 5200fx and up for nvidia.
I'm just going by what i had read else were in regards to forceing
it to run on ps 1.1 to run on older cards... but then again they were
refering to nvidia
Anyways the game barely run well on a high top end system with top end card little
lone a old bottom end card despite its support. Especilly if you take the video card as an indicator of what the rest of the hardware in the system is like.
A 4200TI get about 13,500 2001se 3dmarks were a 9200 gets around 8-9,000

It doesn't work with 9200's though, so I'm not sure, the only way to check is to try it out.

it not barey, it runs on a top of the line, i know people that plays it on 1600x1200 high aa4x af8x and it runs fine, it just that if you gonna use aa and af you gonna have to have 1.5gbs of ram.
since 1.5gb would be a unwanted ammout of ram so people get 2x1GB instead of a 1GB and a 512mb stick.
i play it at 1600x1200 high aa4x af8x i have 2GBs of ram and it runs great so before you asume you check first.
it runs great for people who dont use aa nor af with 1GB of ram. and on a 9800pro and or6600GT at 1024x760 medium/high .
so if you dont game with aa and AF then 1Gb of ram will work. but if you game with 1600x1200 high and aa4x af8x then you gonna need atleast 1.5gbz of ram.
i know cuz i have the game and i do play at the listed settings at 1600x1200.

yeah but its a FPS so your FPS should never be lower then 60FPS, otherwise you might miss that plane wushing by (1 frame)... does make a difference...
I play on low now geometry details high and view distance high... still looks good, gameplay is still amazing and I get 60 to 90Fps refresh rate is 100Hz so all good (if it wasnt for the fact that I am a noob in this game)

I don't have the full game though do have the demo. Even with 1.5GB of ram the
game runs useing 850+mb of ram 850+ of page file wich is the most I've ever seen
by far more then hl2/doom3 etc.
I run the game on all high 1024X768 no AA/AF with my 3400+ and X800XL . I get
around 90 FPS play fines enough. Took out the 512 and it was pretty ruff lag / slide
show unplayable. turning off dynamic shadows and lighting made it playble again.
Of couse everyhting of mine is stock and not overclocked like yours.
BTW:
people with 9250s being told thier card is not suported or finding out the game doesn run for them. Other are saying it works fine.... so i dunno

So I guess that BF2 wont run on the 9250 and I am MAD at the Customer service Rep from Emachines that sold me the 9250 to replace my ageing 32mb video card, I got succered into that deal.

But those who are playing it with such card are saying that they have everything on low and ir barely playing it... I can only go on what I read
