Please help me with my RX 9800 PRO not sure what the problem is.
My RX 9800 Pro has been working perfectly for the past few months in my other machine. My brother used it for awhile but found it was locking up with his computer and I assumed it was his machine so I took it back. Now it’s in my machine and after about 5 mins of use of openGL or any 3D app it freezes. The screen goes black and my monitor won’t turn on till I restart. I really want to avoid trying to replace it so any help would be awesome!
When I turn down settings it will last longer, like AGP down to 4x from 8
This lead me to believe it was an overheating problem.
So I downloaded speed fan ( never used it before ) and it shows this: http://www.enomheadwear.com/fff.JPG
I am not sure what is running at 127c, if its my video card then I got a problem.. I am going to check this out using another video card. I will update later tonight.
My specs are in sig..
**UPDATE***
Stuck my old gf2 in my comp and the temperatures didn't change, the 127c temp
isn't coming from my video card..
.

This is most likely a misread of one of the sensors. I don't know if I'd worry too much about it as it could just be a faulty reading, or the program isn't working properly.
At any rate there is one suggestion that I can make inorder to help with the blacking out issue: uninstall SmartGART. You can do this by using ATIs 'SmartGART Uninstaller' program which you can get HERE. This utility, as it's namesake implies, will uninstall SmartGART. If you ever want to reinstall SmartGART just reinstall the display drivers.
Before you do the above though, try these 2 options. First, turn off FastWrites under the ATI SmartGART tab in the Advanced section of your Display Properties. As well, turn off VPU recovery which is under the VPU Recover tab. Try these 2 options first, and if you continue to have the same issue then run the SmartGART uninstaller.
Hope that helps you out. Don't forget to let us know if it works out.

Strange as it sounds, my computer blacks out right away now with VPU Recovery disabled.. The monitor turns of and blinks ( While in game ). My problem is not so much that my monitor blacks out, its that the game freezes after playing for a few mins. Though the screen has turned black after it freezes.
I will try uninstalling smartGART..
thanks

If you are overclocking the system bus (FSB) so that the AGP has gone up to 75MHz then that can very well cause instability. Also, have a look at the card and check so that the fan rotates easily and isn't clogged with dust, just to be sure.

Well no wonder your card's giving you problems man.. the default setting for your AGP Frequency is suppose to be 66.. at ALL times. If you have the option to play with it then set it back to 66 and I know you do because my brother has the same mobo and I had to set his up too. LoL that's why your having so many problems. Cause if you get your next card you'll fry that one too trust me.

I know by default omega and other sites recommend you turning off fastwrites but in your situation and others from what I've read in some of the posts that turning it on can sometimes resolve this kind of issue. So enable it in your bios first then uninstall all your ATi drivers and start fresh again, I know its a pain in the ass but like my pappy always said "if your gonna do anything make sure its done right the first time that way you don't have to go back and do it over again!" LoL
