Strange issue with C&C genarals Zero hour on Nephews system
The board is a:
Sempron 2400+
PCHIPS M851 KT400
256MB Ram
herculeas 9100 64MB
It plays fine on my parents 1800+, soyodragon plus (Kt266A), 512 RAM,
1st radeon 64mb DDR vivo
The game works on my parents systemfine. But on my nephews system if you stat the game choose single player and do the china mission. Right after the videos the screen goes black then thigh diffrent collor bars and the game locks.the ATI drivers didn't seem have an effect, I updated the chipsets drivers to the lastest, latest bios, and have all windows updates...
So i swaped cards to se if that had anything to do with it. Now it still runs fine on my parents system. But on my nephews it reboots the system after the 1st loading screen
I'm thinking maybe that board desn't like ati cards or something? But everything else seems to work fine . I was thinking of picking up a cheap referbish cards like gf2 mx/gf4 mx/4200ti /4400ti that i can get from $19-$29 to see. I think that may be what it is what do you guys think? I'm at a loss...

You might replace the mobo itself, you can fit all that stuff in something like an Abit KV7-V, which might give the system a bigger boost in performance as well as having more future upgrade options on it (i.e. SATA and such)

Is this the only game it happens with? Have you uninstalled and reinstalled the game. I had issues with C&C Gen ZH but was because of choppy performance. But out of all my games it was the only one I had issues with.

I know but the KV7-V is $70 bucks Canadian, if you're in the U.S. you're looking at about the same price as to buy a decent budget nVidia card but this is more feature rich.
Worth a try in my opinion. Seems the mobo is at fault, and the KT600 chipset is by far better than the KT400.

Suit yourself Just a suggestion. Could save your pocket further damage in the future, plus you could get someone to help fork out for it. Not like its alot of cash either way, eh?

New symptom since I switched the 9100 pro to my dads system ,
put in the 64Mb vivo (7200)
left it that way.... Now the sysytem looses the video signal evey so often???
Also this is why CC genrals seen goes black... I hooked it up to my 19" at my
house and this is what i get...
I orderd a 5200 FX becouse it was so dang cheap after
a rebate hopefuly that will sove the problems.
With the onbord video everything works fine!
Cosidering the notes of previous bios updates for this motherboard
refer to adress stability and other issues with ATI cards It's most
likey the board not likeing ATI cards

C&C ZH is one game that would give me issues too. It's randomous, but I've seen it happen on at least 4 seperate PC's.
Using Windows XP, I would get a B.S.O.D. that said something to the effect, "windows shut down to protect your system from damage" It could do this after five minutes or five hours, totally out-of-the-blue.
Haven't tried the game lately. Apparently it still has oddball issues.

The genre of game they play are all ment to be pl;ayed titles anyways so one
would think it would have less issues on NV cards
