X800 by far. An x700 is essentially an overclocked 9800, a 6600GT is n00b, and an X800 is 12 pipelines of pwn. Plus if you get the VIVO edition you can flash it to an XT for 16 pipelines, if you're lucky

Another vote for the x800. 4 more pipelines and also, a 256 bit memory bus. The added memory of the x700 will not come close to making up that deficit, and same goes for the 6600gt.

If you're not comfortable with flashing it, you could also spend just a tad extra and get an XT and overclock it to PE speeds.

Get the X800. It's the card I have right now on my main rig (256MB RAM version, from Sapphire). If you want numbers, I can overclock it to 440 core/440 mem and I get 4,5k in 3Dmark05 and 9,5k in 3Dmark03; that should give you an idea of its performance.

Get the XT if you can- that has 16 pipes- the XL has 16 pipes, the Pro has 12 pipes...
Yeah I think the clock speeds are different too- the XT PE being the fastest-
Newegg is a good place to check for different manufacturers and models' clock speeds..
http://www.newegg.com/OldVersion/app...alog=48&DEPA=1
And also pics of power connectors- for the XL get the one with the extra power connectors for PCI-E versions... I think all the AGP versions have the extra power connectors.. but if not- get the one with the extra power connector. They OC better...

Look at it like this
Pro - Good (only 12 pipes and comparatively crap clocks)
XL - better (But best value, usually OC well and has all 16 pipes)
XT - best (All pipes and clock speed and good OC'ers)
XTPE - "technically" the best but i hear they suck for OC'ing

The better XL OCers are the ones with the molex connector.
There are XLs that do not have a molex connector, and they tend to OC... badly.
Probably due to more voltage, that the XL+molex connector OCs better.
(Talking about PCI-E. Know nothing about AGP XLs. Just follow what BWX said about the power connectors.)
In some cases, XLs are cheaper than Pros, even though XL outperforms Pro. This is due to the extra 4 pipelines.
XTPE- OCs ok. Slap on an Arctic Silencer and you got a serious overclocker... like mine.
I haven't even reached my OC limit. I'm just being cautious and not to break the card

Apparantly XT's do better than PE's though, overall anyway. But if yours OC's well then hey, why complain?

i think as far as AGP cards go the x800Pro is the best because its a)cheap b)more readily available than the XT PE or X850 (at least in HK it is) and c)can easily be softmodded for the extra 4 pipelines. at least if its a ViVo. and suddenly you have an XT PE for like $100 less.

I doubt you'd get to XT PE speeds without spending more money on cooling.
An XL Is less risky and just as cheap. The worst that happens is it sucks for OC'ing and you still get 16 pipelines
