Strangely High Temperature of my 9600 XT GPU!
Hi Omega/Guys,
I have a 256MB Sapphire 9600 XT with no overclock and with Omega 2.6.25a driver [Cat5.4]. Under the OVERDRIVE menu in Setting, I see that my temperature is so high! Loaded at 45C and idea at 58C, then it shot up to 65-68C when playing fs2004 game but doesn't give any problem to my game and computer so far! Is that Reading from OVERDRIVE accurate?

Video cards should be able to handle temperatures in the range of 80+C. The reading is likely accurate, and unless you have artefacts, there is nothing to worry about.

Hi RedSolar,
Got it! My Sapphire just has a factory fan on it! So, I guess it is ok with that temperature after reading you reply. Thanks for your valueable advice!

my 9600Xt usealy gave me temps of about 34C when idle. Make sure you've got good case airflow and that there no dust in the fan and that it's spinning properly

My friend put a Vantec Iceberq 4 on that same card, with the stupid glowy lights on it...ugly thing but with some AS5 it went from (with no airflow) 40/67 (idle/load) to 31/39...tiny thing doesn't need much cooling though...don't void your warranty if nothing is wrong with it.
However it did get him from 555/333 (core/mem) to 620/335 (ramsinks didnt do much lol) |

Hi guys
Anyway, I just removed my internal modem card which is setting next to my 9600XT. And guess what . . . the idea temperature drops to 53C and during games, it hit at 59C only! Well, I guess airflow is the problem, my internal modem card was blocking the gpu fan's air flow! Thank guys!
