No image...
Okay I just rebooted my PC and no image appeared. I had not touched my PC the wholde day and the only the only thing I had done was turn off the PSUs button in the back. I turned it on once I came home and booted and no image. Nothing on screen. I've had this before so I unplug the card, replug, still no go...
So I take out the card and put it in my bro's comp (I use Analog and he uses Digi) and STILL no image. So then I try analog on his screen and STILL no image. Okay I start getting freaked out and I take his card on my comp and boot up and an image appears and I turn it off straight away. So my AGP port is alright. But no matter what I do with my 9800 Pro, it doesn't give an image. The fan runs and all but no PIC... Is my card dead?

if it's still under warranty, do an RMA of the card. If warranty is out of reach, then i say it's time to get a new one.

if you haven't modified it in any manner..... put it back in it's antistatic wrap.... pop it in the box with all the cables and connectors not to mention manuals/cds that came with it, and RMA it.

Well I just had an interesting thing. I put in my 3D card and well, still no image but if I turned on and off the screen a few times, I get a message saying: In Power Mode, press a key or move mouse but if I do that, nothing...

That's the powersavings tech on your monitor saying that... not the computer.
your card is dead. You mentioned you've a dell, you got it with your dell... I'd get over to dell website and find the number you need to call for support.. give them your code (which should be printed on the side of the case or knowing dell, at the back of the case in a most inconvienent place. They should be able to tell you if it's still under warranty and if you can get it replaced... Depending on the package purchased.... i think 2 years is normal for a warranty period.

I concur with the other "experts" here... R.I.P., Radeon 9800 Pro. If your Dell is still under warranty, you can call Dell and either have them send you a replacement or send your machine to have them do the work. Chances are, you'll want to do the work yourself. Sometimes, even out-of-warranty machines will be repaired by the OEM (I had a Sony system where the BIOS died, and they sent me a new board free after more than a year.

Well I've sent an email to Dell because normally I'm still under warranty. And well, since I modded my card I've asked if anyone has a 9800pro heatsink and one member on this forum is ready to sell one... So I might be able to pull this off but I really wonder why my card just decided to die... Any ideas cuz I want to avoid doing this again! It's not overheating so what can it be?

So that's why you want it.
![]() Actually, what brand is your card because the Heatsinks are different from one brand to another and I hope you're kept your stock Pushpins.. |

well mine's a stock one from ATI. I actually have the heatsink but my fan broke... I normally can clip it back on but no fan is a bummer...

*bump* Any ideas? I'm scared this will happen again... What are the possible reasons my card died?

I know triple posting is bad but these are spaced out
Okay, I just got off the phone from Dell and well, no refund. I got nothing. So would ATI handle an RMA with a OEM card or no?
