Double Images or Ghost images on Screen?????

I have just noticed recently that i am seeing double images or ghost images on my monitor. Its not there all the time, but it all the sudden starts happening, when i come into or go out of a game sometimes and otherwise it just starts appearing. I do not overclock at all , anything, so i know it cant be caused from that. Can someone help me out on what it would be from? Viewsonic told me it could be caused from an extension cable, but i am not using one. I have no other clue, other than my monitor is going bad, or its being caused from my video card. I have a X800 that is fairly new(2 Months old, Never overclocked) Please someone help me out so i can take the card back to store, or get the monitor sent it. Thx in advance...................

Your right about the 2 possible trouble makers. Either your monitor is going (with the possibility, although unlikely, of the monitor cable being busted) , or the video card is going.

The easiest way to tell would be to use another monitor, or hook another computer up to the one you have. If you don't have another computer, or can't borrow a friends computer you can try taking your PC to a local repair shop, and try your PC on their monitors. Most times it won't cost you a thing unless they fix something.

Also, try unplugging, then reseating the cable from your video card (while your at it check the pins to make sure none of them are bent or busted). Be sure to screw it on so that the pins maintain contact inside the connector. Although unlikely as well, you can try to reinstall your drivers.

My money though is that your monitor is going.

if its doing what i think it is, its most likely your monitor.

only reason i say that is because my monitor is also dieing, and has a slight ghosting effect on it now. its pretty sad when your CRT starts ghosting....

sounds like the monitor is going... try to connect your PC at a freinds house to check it on another PC.

Thx for all the replys, funny thing is that today it never happened after i moved the base of my cordless phone further away from my monitor. I was just trying diferent things to see what it was, because like i said, it sometimes appeared and then it would be fine. I think the problem is solved(KNOCK ON WOOD) But im not for sure yet. Thx again for the quick responses.........................................
