Wierd Artifacts
I have an ATI Radeon 9250 PCI and whenever I play CS: Source or Sims 2, I get these wierd lines and stuff heres what I mean.
I try to keep the card as cool as possible by leaving the case cover off if I have to leave it on overnight, because I only have stock cooling. I had ATI Catalyst drivers but uninstalled them to try the Omega Drivers, nothing changed. I ran 3dMark03 and got a 1118 and it still had the same lines and checkers that Counter-Strike: Source had. Any suggestions? I know that sending it back in would be a huge hassle and I would like to avoid it if possible.
My specs:
Dell 2400 Dimenion
Pentium 4 2.4Ghz
1 Gig RAM
Windows XP SP2
ATI Radeon 9250
Thanks in advance.

Looks like one of 2 things: heat or defective card. Try underclocking the card, and see if the artefacts go away.

I think she looks better like this
I don't know if it will help, but try reducing hardware acceleration. Are Fast Writes off? I never encountered this type of problem so I don't know what could cause that.... maybe its just a deffective card as RedSolar already mentioned...
How much aperture size do you have? What is your AGP speed? What is the setting of Cat A.I.?

The wierd thing is it comes and goes. I don't know how much of this is relevant but I'm by no means an expert at this.
In display properties it has:
Plug and Play Radeon 9200 Pro
Default Monitor Radeon 9200 Pro
Specs:
Omega Drivers 2.6.05a
Core Clock: 239 Mhz
Memory Clock: 200 Mhz
Texture Filtering: Optimal
Pixel Processing / Antialiasing: None
Post Processing: False
Vertex Shaders: Optimal
Even though it's a PCI card is AGP relevant? For my 9250 would I need a new cooling system? I'm really sorry but once again I'm clueless on this stuff. Thanks.
The rest of the info I'm not sure how to view, I checked the full system info on the 3dMark website but it said it was down and to try back later. Oh, and I found out my power supply is pretty weak (250watts) and I have all 6 USB slots filled.

Hmmmm.. I remember a friend having a similar trouble in UT2004 with the same card... he fixed it by lowering the detail :/

Try lowest resolution (640x480) with lowest detail, and lowest shaders ("Reflect None")

Yeah it works, it just looks terrible. I got a new fan today that I'm gonna put in, just to make sure. I put it on 1024x740 (i think) and just lowered all the textures and it went away. It makes Source look very cartoony but I can expect much out of a 9250. Thanks
