ATI 9700 video tearing

Hi
I'm new to the forum and have a very important question that is absolutely critical to me and the way I use my computer. I just bought a new Sager with the ATI 9700 card installed. From the get go I was experiencing some nasty video tearing on my TV output when set to extended desktop mode. My LCD was showing tearing as well. Keep in mind that I am NOT a gamer and therefore am using this laptop for live VIDEO performance. I installed the latest omega drivers at the suggestion of a friend and chose "always on" in the vertical sync slider box. This has not fixed the problem either.

Besides the tearing that I need fixed, the radlinker app is not there when I reboot my machine. I see the extra tabs after installation but after reboot they disappear??

I hope that someone here has the knowledge Im looking for. No one else has been able to help me.

Thanks all!!!!!

I experimented a little to see if I could reproduce the problem to no avail.

Are you using an NTSC television? Also what input on the TV are you using? Just covering the basics to get an idea of your setup...

my TV is normal, no problems there. I am still having the tearing and no drivers fix it! I ahve sent ATI a problem ticket but they have not replied (big surprise) . Im about to try and return the entire laptop just because of a faulty video card!

Hello. I have been in search for a solution to a similar problem I am having.

I also own a Sager with an ATI 9700, I have just started experiencing tearing when I play World of Warcraft and other demanding games. I have updated and tried NUMEROUS drivers. I have taken my notebook apart and cleaned all fans and heatsinks to like new condition.

I still receive tearing when I play. I don't know who else to ask or turn to. ATI doesn't support their Mobility lines of cards AT ALL. Any ideas?

It's a faulty card then, you will have to RMA it, it has to be faulty if both of you have the same problem, with the same card, same brand.
