it's strange that even though Ati has been boasting about the supposed performance increase, i still only got some 7300 3d marks with my radeon 8500le.... as opposed to the 7500 i've had with older drivers...

These drivers appear to have fixed a few little problems that I've been having, particularly in Win98se. But I recieved NO speed increase in any games that I have noticed. In fact, a few games seem to run slower. Rollcage 2's (Death Track Racing ) exit error is fixed, but now it has a little hiccup during play in 1600x1200. Supercar Street Challenge is running quite a bit slower. Paritcle effects in 4x4 EVO2 cause a slight bog that didn't happen before. ETC....

ONE GAME has showed improvement, NFS:HP2 now lets me use AA in 1280x1024 where it was choppy before unless I backed off to 1024x768.

I don't seem to have those problems in WinXP, but of course that rig also has a faster CPU.

3DMark gives about the same results as the last few driver sets have been, leaked or otherwise.

I'm not complaining or anything, just thought I'd report my personal findings (I tend not to spam for post count, but DARN IT!, I got close to the 100 posts needed for an avatar and now I have to get 500 posts to add my avatar Maybe I'll just donate some cash......) All in all, the drivers seem VERY stable, but the fluctuations in speed are kind of odd. Speeding up some games while slowing down others

The main issue I've recognized with ATi's drivers after the Catalyst 2.2's seems to be with Madden NFL 2003. There seems to be some fuzziness around the line of scrimmage.. I reinstalled the 2.2s, and haven't had any problems since.

Check here for the different driver benches:
