Radeon X800XT help...
Hi there!
I am new to this forum, noticed that there seem to be people with much knowledge here. I am in desperate need of help. In septemer 2004 i got my new PC. Its from Fujitsu-Siemens Scaleo 800 (3.2 GHz, 1G RAM, 250 G HD). (BTW, I am not very good with computers as u might notice from this posting). In december the computer broke down and wouldnt start at all. I sent it in for repair. it came back. still didnt work though they said they had changed the motherboard. I sent it back and this time it came back just a couple of days ago. It worked fine at first (the papers said they had adjusted the CPU cooler). A couple of hours ago it just froze, and i tried rebooting. Now the computer starts up but i get no signal to the screen, and cant do anything. It doesnt seem to boot. Can there b something wrong with my graphics card? Can all these previos problems b related to this new problem? The only video output i have on my computer is from the graphic card, so i cant remove it and try booting without it. I´m very grateful if someone can help me with this, its getting a bit annoying just sending the computer back and forth to the repair guys.... If there is some info u might need ill try my best providing it. Thank you in advance, Regards, Per -->

If you can remove everything but the CPU from the PC, do so and then try to power it up. If it does not produce any sounds, then it likely has nothing to do with video card, and in such case either CPU or the motherboard are not working.

thanks, i tried that now. sounds are coming from A) power supply B) CPU fan (at least i think so).
I will proceed by moving my graphic card to a friend comp and se if it works... |

What I was looking for was error beeps from the motherboard, not fan sounds from the CPU or power supply. If this is all you get, it's highly likely your motherboard is no longer functioning (again?). If this is the case, there may be something else that is causing it to fail, such as bad power supply, or simply unclean electric current that's coming from the plug (this can be solved by adding a UPS/battery backup).

ive checked the power supply, and it says 350 W.
About the unclean current, that wouldnt suprise me, since the electrics in this apartment building seems kinda shady. Its quite new, but lightbulbs burn out about 10 times as fast here than in other places, and other devices e.g. the TV has malfunctioned without aparent reason. If thats the problem, will it be solved with the battery bacjup, or do I have to switch motherboard again and then add the battery backup? many thanks 4 your help |

yeah your motherboard is probably fried.
even so, I'd say the power supply is probably also to blame. A decent power supply should fix the cruddy current or shut off(thats what they're designed to do). If your power is odd in the apartment, get a UPS but also make sure that the company fixes your computer.

Thank you very much. I will send them the computer and get an UPS.
Ive checked some prices (im from sweden so i´ve checked swedish sites), and they seem to cost some some money, around 100-150 USD for the cheapest. What wattage will i need on the UPS (i dont wanna spend to much cash...but i dont want to spend the next year resending the PC either, 3 months without it is enough already) |
