Trouble with a radeon mobility 9200

i have a laptop on which i play video games. it is not a gaming laptop but it does have enough to play the one pc game i like to play right now, City of Heroes. im having trouble with having old drivers on my mobility 9200. Ive tried omega drivers and patje's mobility modder. neither of those worked at all. im wondering what i can do to update my drivers as sony wont update the drivers for my laptop. or if possible how i can fix my problems with the 2 solutions above(omegas and mobility modder.)
oops forgot to include errors for those and such...
so when i installed omega i tried it a few times. first time i downloaded it and installed it. nothing special. this did not work. when i tried to run City of Heroes(my only reference point) i got screens completely yellow or other colors. i play in windowed mode and this stuff covered everything including the parts of the desktop i could see. so basically i go back into the technical issues part of City of heroes boards and ask for a bit of help. someone tells me to use driver cleaner first and when i did that(im not completely sure i did it right though...) i got a hard crash with an error message long since forgoten. i gave up at that point did a system restore and went back to playing CoH with lots of bugs...
so a few weeks pass and during my christmas break i get really annoyed by the bugs again. so i ask again saying that omegas didnt work for me. some one else links me to the mobility modders. i only tried these once follow the instructions on that page: download 4.12s extract em, get rid of installer, open up modder and select the driver file. select card(mobility radeon 9200) let it mod restart comp. so when i did the mod it changed 3 files and then allowed me to install em. of course as my mobility card hates me it didnt work giving me similar screens to what happened orginally with the omegas. i used no other programs in association with the mobility modder. i also didnt uninstall the old drivers. i simply followed the instruction (insert herd animal here) style.

Patje's modder v2.1 doesn't work? Strange... Tried manual install? (not using Setup application, but using 'Update driver' option form Device Manager) If you can send me your orginal VIAO's (?) driver & Catalyst 4.12's ini file i can modd these for your M9200 to work with Regular Catalyst 4.12...

Ini file should be in your ATI install folder, something like CX_13558.inf

quick question. how important is unistalling the old drivers for installing omegas? im trying to figure out why the omegas didnt work and i noticed that in driver cleaner there were a lot of types of ati drivers. i was thinking that if it would help i would delete the old drivers and run all those for ati drivers in driver cleaner.i think this might help as when i unistalled some of the stuff from the drivers through driver cleaner i got a different error message. and a different error mesage means something is happening differently.
