wasnt able to overclock X800XT to pe
ok i wasnt able to overclock to the pe. Like when i did it wouldnt run 3dmark. But the temps werent that high is there any reason why it is not able to overclock that high . I have a 5800 RPM torando case fan right above it so air is blowing out. i was using ati drivers. it is the gigabyte vivo X800XT. When i test it with ati tool it said it would be able to

what did you get to? overclocking to PE speed is not guaranteed. it's all luck of the draw. try OCing the core, then the ram separately. that would isolate what is limiting you.

like I said, try only OCing the core and see what the max is. then do the same for the memory. You'll probably find that one or the other is holding you back from full PE speeds.

I wouldn't put to much trust in what ATI tool says.Just test the core and memory seperately to see whats holding you back, but for the most part if you have a X800XT your probably cpu limited in realworld gaming anyway.

We have the same card
I was able succesfully to OC to 520/560 (Platinum default Clock) from 500\500 without artifacts etc
Try that setting

The current rule of thumb...
X800pros are great over clockers,
X800XT's are poor over clockers,
X800XT PE's are good over clockers,

ATI TOOL sucks you need to do it the old fasioned way....
use a to like radlinker
Up the clocks a little.. run 3dmark watch carefully for ANY artifacts
repeat... go about 5 Mhz at a time... do core and memory seprate
If you see artifacts back down about 10-15Mhz try again should
be your sweete spot.
ALLWAYS REMEMBER your room and case temps advesly affects you heat sinks
cooling potential. What may be a good stable O/C at 68 deg F may not be one at 75 deg F.
Be VERRY CAREFULL and as always this is @ your own risk

6800 gt os to ultra 4c temp variance. clock to 420/1160 8c temp variance. absolutley stable. do not think the core will go higher but mem has potential.
notice!- this is pure spam. eyes only neon.

If the fan you have above the card is right above the card's HSF assembly and pulling air from the card instead of blowing air onto the card, I'd recommend flipping it. You want to increase airflow to the card, not decrease it.

you turm of your comp, unplug the fan & flip it over.
reholli is 100% correct. there is usually an arrow on the side of the fan housing denoting flow direction.

i have a tornado on my side panel blowing over my 6800GT. Keeps it cool, so i'm happy. If you have your tornado sitting in the same manner as my tornado, then it should help out on cooling your x800

I Overclocked my card with ATI TRAY TOOL
(not with ATITOOL, they update their tool every 10 months, they are still with version 0.0.22 )
RADLINKER is also good

I have a Sapphire X800XT, and that easily overclocked to X800XT PE speeds, but that's not saying much - its only 20mhz higher core speed, and 60mhz higher memory speed, I don't see how you cannot get that. I mean unless I misunderstood, you're trying to get PE speeds right? Should be easy. I did it and I have shitty stock fans all over my case.

my card sucks for overclocking. Its a GeCube x800pro VIVO which has the 16pipes enabled, but can't O/C at all otherwise it locks up. Any ideas??
my system:
Processor:
Pentium 4E 3.2GHz @ 3.6GHz Thermaltake Spark 7+
Operating System:
Windows XP SP2
Mobo:
MSI 865PE NEO 2 Platinum Edition
RAM:
2x 512MB Transcend DDR466 @ 450 MHz
Video:
GeCube x800PRO VIVO @ stock 16 Pipes
Storage:
Seagate Barracuda 80gb
Audio:
SoundBlaster Live 5.1 KX powered with 2.1 speakers.
I don't think it is heat cause the card Idles at 43c and full load at 70c whilst my case is around 33c

yeah...i got some ideas. It wasnt meant to run 16 pipes.
try taking it down to the old 12 pipes and see that sucker OC like nobodies business.
either that or its juts a poor OCer. But anyway just be happy that you got 16 pipes, eh man?
btw THG generally suggests using powerstrip as it is kinda the best tool for OCing. I noticed MUCH BETTER results when OCing my graphics card through powerstrip than through radlinker(and ATI tool is lame. there was a time that whatever it said for your max was very conservative and you knew you had more headroom...now its so liberal that you need to drop down 10mhz from what its saying)

16 pipes rule! i just wish it would get to XT speeds. it has the 1.6ns memory and the RAD coded core so it should get there. oh well

it might also just be too hot. 16 pipes heats things up alot...not only that, but you appear to live in south africa(so says your info) and it gets pretty hot down there as memory serves...it could be that you just need some massive cooling there, eh?

I tried the vmod, but then it got WAY too hot 80c on the core. it isn't too hot down here, round about 30c now. hopefully i'll be getting an arctic silencer from a friend in the UK soon. I'm sure that'll help.
