Problem w/ Drivers on FireGL 8700
I recently picked up an ATI card used and it is identified by the ATI web site's 102# utility as FIREGL 8700 64MB VGA DVI-I but when I try to install the FireGL 8x00 drivers from ATI (filename firegl8x00-winXP-3051) I get the message "The selected hardware was not detected in the system." I also tried the Catalyst drivers but they would not install anything either. The P/N is 1028572001.
I understand that this card is very similar to the Radeon 8500 - I was wondering if it might be possible to flash the BIOS so that the Radeon drivers might work. I have read about people flashing their 8500s to FireGLs so it seems like it might be possible if I could get the right BIOS. (I'd prefer the ATI BIOS so that I could use the Catalyst drivers unaltered I guess.) Any input would be most appreciated! |
