Pissed 9800 pro problems

built my own pc about two months ago, got it all working but had a couple of problems when playing games with blocks of colour and strange stuff coming up on the screen as can be seen in the pictures. solved that by trying out different official drivers.http://www.lyndabrian.plus.com/ (they r the 3 pictures below the "parent directory link)

Couple of weeks ago my harddrive broke so i got a replacement, but ever since i started using it the problems have come back, and no matter what i do i cant sort it out again. These problems happen on counterstrike, joint operations, ut2004 and warcraft 3 for sure not sure bout others but probably would happen. their is a difference between the problems on wc3 and counterstrike and the other two because on them there are just strange patterns all over the floor and walls but on joint operations and ut2004 there r just blocks of colours. the problems even happen on my desktop with patterns horizontally across the screen.

strange thing is the other day i managed to play joint operations for 2 hours without any problems after installing the omega driver. but ever since then the problems have come back.

i was just wondering if anyone had any ideas how to solve the problem or if anyone knows wats causing it.

amd athlon 64 3000+ processor
512 ram
80gb 7200rpm
asus K8V SE deluxe
connect 3d 9800 pro 8x

well i bought a 9800 pro from best buy and it was bad out the box , i was having tearing and blocking. somtimes i could play for 1 min sometimes an hour . i dont know what it was but i think it was some bad ram on the board.

your not overclocking right?? if so go back to stock settings. make sure the card is seated properly in the socket. the fan on the card is running. if all that checks out then i would say return. and do you have all your drivers on the motherboard updated and games?

GutterPunk will become famous soon enough

yeah, make sure u dont have dead air by your gfx card (it may be getting a bit warm) put everything at stock clocks and keep an eye (or feel) out for heat

that's really ugly...especially the 2nd one with the 'pretty' colors

but yes..my suggestion is put it back in the box and try again...but if you don't want to try that, and your board has onboard VGA, run drivercleaner, boot using onboard and add the radeon card via 'add new hardware wizard' and then reboot using the radeon and pray
