Hey all!
I recently found out that my Intel motherboard's AGP slot was wearing out for one odd reason or another, so I recently swapped the motherboard with a Asus P4C800-E Deluxe and the old video card (a 9800 Pro 256mb) with a 9800XT (if you want to ask why I upgraded my videocard one model up, it was free because of my computer's warranty).
Anyway, after the reformat and yadda yadda I had a nice 3DMark03 benchmark of 6452. I was quite pleased so I started playing some games: and along comes my problem.
I have no "issues" with the games themselves, but my problem is along the line of performance. In games like UT2k4, with the console's fps meter enabled, I notice slightly, sometimes signifigantly, lower rates than I got with my 9800 Pro with the same settings. Also, as I used to get 100fps constant under ANY condition (yes even 5 smoke grenades) in a nice multiplayer game of Counter-Strike, I now sometimes dip below this mark, noticably into the 80s.
AA and AF are off, HT is enabled (though I might disable it later) and AGP is at 8x under Cat 4.3.
I'm not quite sure what type of problem I could be having, but I'm sure it is not just a fragment of my imagination. It seems akward, since my 9800 Pro scored 5800 3DMarks previously but actually did better in the games themselves.
Suggestions greatly appreciated!
