9500 Pro Hard Mod
I have flashed my bios on the 9500 Pro and now it runs as 9700 Pro. I have installed Omega Drivers on my comp. Everything appears to be running normally. Problem is when I got to the SMARTGART tab on control panel I am set to 0 on my AGP speed slider. When I attempt to go to 8x (which my MB is capable of) it resets me back to 0 with a message from VPU recovering saying my card wasn't responding. Does this setting really matter? Should I turn VPU off?

Welcome to DH
So you unlocked the 9500 PRO huh? Nice It's now an overclockable 9500 PRO. The ID is just 9700 PRO so it can be overclocked.
Did you install the motherboard drivers? Maybe that would help with AGP setting problem. Just a guess.

My MB is fine I think. I have te 9500 Pro o'ced to 300/300 and stable. I get 140 fps in Call of Duty
I just want to know why I can't set my AGP slot to 8x from the SMARTGART tab. I go to dxdiag and it says my AGP teaxture acceleration is "not available". Anyone with a clue?

Reinstall the drivers. You probably have a bad install there. It occasionally happens.

I have reinstalled the drivers a few times. I used the driver cleaner once as well. I just tried restarting with 8x settings Fastwrite off and it booted, but it went back to zero. What gives?

Ok, i installed MB update drivers and all hell broke loose. My display went haywire and no amount of installing/re-installing/uninstalling would bring it back to normal. I finally had to use a XP resotre point (which degraded my drivers back to the original) to get it back. So I am stuck with the same dilemma. Anyone else with the same problem? Why is my MB update freaking out my card?

when was the last time you did a fresh format and install of everything.... including driver updates.. BTW... You should always install Mobo/chipset drivers before anything else other then windows updates...

What do you mean by fresh install??? Can you give me step-by-step instructions on how to get my drivers situated? As of today I have kept my 9500 Pro flashed as a 9700 Pro but have installed the Catalyst 4.4 drivers. I was planning on attempting an install of MB drivers tonight to test whether it was conflicting with the Omega Drivers, but from what you are saying it sounds like I need to go ahead and uninstall the Catalyst drivers as well.

I am using the MSI KT4VL mb with VIA KT400a chipset. I also have another problem. After discussing what was up with a friend he mentioned my ATI Omega Control Panel sounded a lot different from his. He sent me some screen shots and Lo, Behold, my panel was completely different!!! Our version #s were the same too! What gives?
PS: No BIOS tweaks and I am using the most recent BIOS according to MSI Live Update.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled both Omega and regular Catalyst 4.4 drivers with NO success. PLEASE HELP ME...
