9800 Pro 128m R360 -> 9800 Xt
I would like to know about everyone who flashed you 9800 pro card having 128m and R360 core.
Should i do it or not? About temp, could i edit the bios using radedit to not have a temp problem ?
Post the good and the bad.
Thank you.

Personally, you shouldn't have to flash your card, you should be able to just overclock it manually to XT speeds(this should actually be done first, to see if your card can handle the speed), using Rivatuner or some other program. What I would recommend first before doing any of the above, is to install a better heatsink/fan combo on your card, with ram sinks as well. Even in normal use, you should have better cooling first.
If you're gonna flash your card, be sure to have an old PCI card available in case the flash doesn't take, and you have to flash back to your old video card bios.
I've not bothered flashing my 9800pro, since it can run overclocked at XT speeds.

I did this not so long since.
There were no noticable performance gains in flashing to the XT. I ran benchmarks with both bios's and the results were too close to call. Not really worth the hassle or the risk.
You cant use overdrive on the 9800Pro 128 as there is no thermal diode in the core and so the overdrive tab doesn't appear in the control panel.
If you had the right model of 9800Pro 256 then you can do this as they have the thermal diode and the right kind of memory.
In short - I wouldn't bother. Just overlcock it manually.

Hi.
Flasing a 9800Pro that has only 128MB ram on it, actually dosn't do any thing for the card since all 128MB ram bios files are moded PRO bios files. the only preformance you might gain is by finding an XT bios that originated from a PRO bios that has better handling of the memory & core timings than your original PRO bios - in this case you might get up to 5-10% better results.
but this demands that you test as many bios files you can find and for each one run 2 hours of tests at the least.
to make sure they are stable with your card. and even then its not a promiss since your card might already have the best bios for it.
if you had a 9800Pro that had 256MB ram then its a hole diffrent story since in that case you can use an original XT bios
(since all XT's were released with 256MB the is no original for 128MB) and rely on the better optimizations that a true XT has. NEVER use a 256MB bios on a 128MB card as your system will always hang.
as for the Question about doing it or not. some times people like seeing the XT sign on their PC and some dont.
so its up to you.
