Cant set my AGP write HELP!!

Hi,

Just installed my new ABIT NF7-S and for some reason everytime I try to change the AGP speed to 8X it resets to off when i restart. I went into bios and changed it to 8X. My board definately supports it. Im confused. Hers my specs

Radeon 9700pro (Omega 4.2 Drivers)
Abit NF7-S Motherboard
AMD athalon xp2400 2.0
Windows XP Home

Any advice or directions is much appreciated.

have you the latest bios installed on your mobo?

if not here's the link.

abit nf7-s revision one BIOS ID:2.3

why would that have anything to do with my basic agp settings?
I already enabled it in the bios.?
It wont stay 8X in my control panel

you say you just installed your mobo! updating bios can sometimes sort out faults even if just small ones.reason i said that were i had instabilty problems when i first put my abit is-7e in that were fixed with a bios update.

and secondly you did not say it were in the smartgart that were resetting,looked more like you stated it were your bios resetting.

have a look at smartgart in windows to see what that shows up 4x or 8x?

"It wont stay 8X in my control panel" have you installed the newest chipset drivers for the nf7-s

nforce 2 for xp

nforce 2 98/me
