Unable to Install Catalyst Drivers
Alright here's the problem...
I have a ATI Radeon 9000 64MB Video Card running on Windows XP Proffesional, but my new game wasn't working with the old drivers... so I went to ATI.com and downloaded the new Catalyst 4.2 drivers... the instructions said I had to uninstall the old ATI drivers, so I did so and rebooted ... I tried to install the new drivers, but it wouldn't work and the following message appeared:
Setup was unable to find components that can be installed on your current hardware or software configuration. Please make sure you have the required hardware or software.
Now I know I have the correct drivers downloaded because I tried every single one, but the others say I have the incorrect hardware for the software I'm trying to install
I've tried to boot in VGA mode, in SAFE mode... nothing.. I don't have the old ATI cd to put the old drivers back on, and Standard VGA mode for this computer right now is VGAsafe ... the other ATI drivers (the old ones that aren't installed but are still in a folder with the setup) say I need to try to install Standard VGA drivers first to get the ATI drivers installed
If you have any suggestions or need me to add anything to this problem for you to help please post!
thx
the fish

What make is your Radeon? Is it made by ATI or is it made by another company?

Welcome to the DH forum
Download them again and then retry , sometimes downloading @ ati gives a not complete download, if not feel free to ask again.
just curious FredFish made in the 90's a PD floppy series for Amiga, did you know that?

re:drivers
I'm not sure who made the card... I don't have a small enough screw driver to take apart the laptop yet... i'll tried another dl... the same error message came up... I can install the ATI control panel, but not the ATI Display Adapter

re:drivers
I went ahead and downloaded just the Display Adapter packet to see if that's what the problem was... went to Safe Mode and tried to install it... this is the error it gave me:
INF error
Video driver not found
followed by...
Setup was unable to complete the installation.
Try to setup your display adapter with a standard VGA
driver before running setup.
maybe that will give you some more clues... I dunno

I have also tried to use Patje's mobility modder v1.7 but i just get: "runtime error 429 active x component can't create object". I need to know what ini-file to modify and what to add/change to get the installation to continue.
