random blank screen in games

every now and again i get a blank screen in me games.. just for a second or two, but damn is it annoying. ONLY happens in 3d apps.

Specs:

Abit NF7-S v2
512 TwinMos with Winbond 3200 @ 433
AthlonXP 2500 @ 2070Mhz (434 Bus)
Radeon 9700Pro @ Stock GPU 317.5MHz RAM
Seagate Baracuda 7200 120GB HDD
480W Antec TrueBlue PSU

any ideas as top what this is? games are stable as is everything, else. I've tried stock speeds but no joy.

I think i get what you are talking about... except mine will last a good 10 seconds or so, then start back up again... it used to just hang my system and id have to shut down, but i think the "vpu recovery" option saves it in the ati drivers. I am using omega drivers, have been for a long time. Recently in a last ditch effort, I bought a new power supply (was only running on a 350 watt off brand) and got a 430 watt antec true power. So far I have not run into this problem as much, knock on wood... Although i have had other problems and I just bought a new harddrive, gonna do a clean install of windows (it always feels so nice lol)

Try plugging your monitor directly into a wall and not into a power tap or surge protector. I had the same problem as you until I plugged my 18" DFP directly into an outlet.

Also try the control panel options "Reduce DVI frequency" and "alternate DVI operational mode"
