Pissed Saphire 9800SE to 9800 PRO with omega drivers - Black dots in some games

Hello
Ive got a Saphire radeon9800SE 128meg and I just installed the new omega drivers that have the soft mod to 9800pro. (i didnt actually see any confirmation the softmod worked, but i assume it did)

I went from 2477 3d mark03 points to 3262 points, and halo runs a hell of a lot smother

XP2000+ @ 1.75ghz
256 meg ddr
Shuttle brand motherboard (ak73v1..i think)
Saphire 128meg radeon 9800se
etc etc
(and yeh, my crappy mobo only supports agp 4x >:|

Only problem being, with these omega drivers and brilliant increase in speed, I get this freaking black dots all over the screen in direct3d games (havent checked opengl yet). It only happens with 3d rendering, ie. in halo on the menu, everything is fine except for the 3d rendered 'halo' in the background, and 2d games like gunbound are fine. (note that ingame in halo has these black dots)

Also note that the black dots appear throughout 3dmark03, and on the nature scence where the water reflects, the black dots are actually reflected as white ones on the water.

The dots are black, rectangle shaped, and get smaller with higher resolutions..
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, as the softmod really did make a good difference in performance

edit - Just used sisoft information/benchmark utility, reports the card as a 9800 PRO. (comes up as 9800 series under video system info, but opengl info brings up 9800 pro)

Thanks

Sapphire 9800SE

Just some info.

First, Aida32 can tell you for certain if you've enabled all the pipes (by your visual error, I'd say you have, but Aida32 could confirm it).

Second, what your describing sound a lot like a broken pipe. Some have fixed these (percentage is low, but some have claimed fixes) by disabling z compression, or by turning on AA and AF.

I have a Sapphire 9800SE with 128 meg of Samsung 3.3 NS ram, on a 128 bit interface (probably the same as you, or very close) and mine happened to soft mod correctly on both Omega's and W1zzards drivers. From what I hear, the best program to check for broken pipelines is rthdribl. The best info I've found for this card came from the forums of OCFaq, but to be honest that website is constantly dead, so you may be unable to view those forums.

Even if you can't get all 8 pipes to work reliably, these boards seem to overclock fairly well, so you'll get decent performance out of it even if your forced to run on just the 4 pipes.
