installation of hardware&software problems
 installed new cpu[amd athlon barton 3000+]and new memory[pc3500 with 433fsb].hadin before athlon throughbreed 2600+ and memory= pc2100 with 266.everything seemed ok,,only it seemed to bootup and just before windows comes up ,a black screen,hangs for few mins,then it desides to diskscan harddrives,have 2 harddrives,one for windows and second as backup and also to hold software.install all main software in first one.so l restalled windows again,everything seems ok,get last of software in and does again,it doesn't reconise second harddrive,says its not xp compatable,which is bull as l have had it since l got xp.has all this something to do with hardware l installed orsomething else.thinking of installing 98se first and then xp upgrade over it,might this help help,help????????????????? cheers briano98 |

You posted in the wrong forum but dont worry one of the admin will move it, now to answer your question try disconnecting the 2nd hard drive and only have the primary connected and set your bios to default and then install xp, after the installation if everything is good then reconnect the 2nd hard drive, hopefully this fixes the problem.

l disconected the second harddrive every time because iwindows will try to install its self in second harddrive,so l install windows and usually conect second-h-drive,but last time l installed every thing,was wondering is itbetter to install 98se first and then xp.l usually install xp with out 98se.
