Need an opinion -People Post your opinions!!!
What to do about my ASUS 9800XT, People have told me it is a piece of shit(Excuse my language), every other driver except the ASUS Bundled ones give me lots of problems and the VGA screw fell out...Is the "no Signal delay before Windows LogOn" a known problem with it? AS heck, I do not want to spend another $730Canadian on a new XT and I got this as a gift and I scratched the HL2 coupon. So, I am in need of some advice.

Try this and I'll BET it brings a smile.....
ATI 9500 Pro
RMA, return..But you may have to pay a restock fee; depending on where you bought it, that's why I use NEWEGG -No restock fee.

The odd part about it all, is that I bought at a local store. So I don't have to worry about fumbling. Heck, I would buy from NewEgg if they shipped to Canada. I am going to get a RMA number tomorrow.

Canada
HUmmm, you will get friends around here that I'm sure would help you out; I have heard about the no-ship to Canada thing and never understood why, I mean it's as close (shipping) as some distant points in the USA ~Main to Aloha, now that's shipping.
I have bought for someone and re shipped and found it expensive unless the order is big & light enough, along with a good deal of trust.
Cheers

as you bought it from a local store you do not need a rma number, just take it in the store yourself.
rma numbers are for postal returns.

The serious problem is that I do not know if I can return it as I have scratched the HL2 coupon.

Well, parts are a little screwy like the VGA connector. I get lock-ups and artifacts without even over-clocking it.

I've gotta say my Asus card hasnt given me any hickups whatsoever. I must be blessed or something. Yeah the vga connector does feel loose but not once its screwed in properly. No artifacts or lockups so far! Fresh install of windows perhaps?

same thing happend to my geforce 4!!!!
First time I fought with PNY to honor my "Lifetime warrenty"... Had to threat'in the better bussiness bureu to get them to CALL ME!!!
After I rma'ed it.... they sent me a peice of shizza that they put some kind of "gum" on one of the resitors that made contact with a heat coil.... I found out latter (about a week latter) that the gum heated up and slide down off the resistor....
Made conntact with the heat coil again!!! and then poped a soldier after it heated up too much....
took a lLOT of looking to find the problem.... But I ended up taking the damn heat coil off.... turning up side down... and soldiering it on that way... (keeps it out of the way... so as not to touch anything else)
Bottom line, I hate PNY and will never buy them again... But as for the card... If they give you grief ... put your foot down... I know its hard to act tuff over the phone... but do it, and if you have to file a BBB complaint.... They will be kissing your feet quickly!!!

Yeah, I am not worried about that. Hell, my mom is good at scaring companies as a customer. At the local grocery store, they know her by her first name and they just do it. No fight is put up as they know. And anyways, I doubt the BBB is applicable to Canadians.

Pretty sad
When video cards become almost as expensive as entire rig setup and then end up geting a non QA card, It's worth noting that the BBB is nothing more than a cushion for large companies (In other words it's really bogous {Had experience with this group since 1985}, if one really wants to impact on a company, the following link is full proof to really get under their skin; in a meaningful way:
Rate the best & worst If a company uses this line of approach to advance sales, I can vouch that these companies watch their ratings very close (management) and will opimize Customer Satisfaction in order to stay alive! A small caveat, if you rate a company poorly and they give you results, it's very prudent to come back & note the result -Gives you a heads up on future purchases (meaning thay will generally hand pick your next order). Of course if you read the site you will also find the total failures -To avoid!
Local dealers are easier to deal with, but the downside is tax & often higher prices.
Cheers
