amdgamer is on a distinguished road

problem with Radeon 9700np

Need some help here. When I first got my vid card my it would make my monitor power down into sleep mode and/or lock up my computer of just restart on its own. I was running Cat. 3.9 drivers. I thought that maybe the card needed to be reseated or was just loose so I took the card completely out and put it back on and used a power supply connector straight from the psu rather then the supplied cord. Then my computer was running fine, no lock ups or anything. Then yesterday I upgraded to Cat. 3.1 drivers and the problems started all over again. So I went back to using the 3.9s, but couldnt get rid of the problem. So I then reseated the card again and intstalled the newest Omega drivers, still problems. Please help.

Specs:
Gateway Select 1100
AMD Athlon T-Bird 1.1 Ghz
384 SDRam
60 gig IBM Desktar
Gateway Mobo---MSI

Power Supply?..... you state it's a GATEWAY....

Powersupply could be the main problem...

300 WATT IS BARE MINIMUM..... i would advise 350 watts though for your system... those Radeon cards that need a psu connector.... draw a fair bit..
