Pissed Radeon 9700 Pro Problem??? for the pros

Ok i have a Sapphire Radeon 9700Pro runing 8004 bios just flashed....

I am running a P4 2.4ghz, Fic 651 MB w/962L chpset, Samsung Pc2100 Ram. And the problem is when I go to run an extesive 3d game or benchmark the computer just reboots itself. If i downclock the video card it works just fine. Or if i turn the CPU FSB to 100mhz which then the CPU runs at 1.8ghz the video card will work just fine at its normal clock speeds. I thought it was my weak 250 watt power supply so i just got a 500watt one and still the same problem. I know the card is good cause if i put it in my brothers AMD 2600 XP it runs fine messing with no settings at all. So i think its either my slow ram causeing the reboot or I need a new motherboard. Any thoughts i have every driver updated i could find and all the bioses are the newest ones. Any advice would be great this problem bothers me a lot.

I have the same card flashed to 8004 at stock speeds. I run the same type ram 2100 but Crucial and I believe it may not be the speed of the ram because I have not run into any problems; such as rebooting.

but that's just my take on it.

It really sucks i think it is a conflick with the Motherboard or my CPU is bad but it doesn't do this when i have my Radeon 9000 card in or a Geforce FX 5200. This prob is really annoying.

Koran, it's a know problem with all Radeon's (especially the 9700Pro) will do that.

I had EXACTLY the same problem you did. I ended up replacing the card to solve the problem. My GPU fried because it got too hot. The stock ATI fan didn't cool the GPU enough which eventually damaged it.

Try taking off the stock fan on the video and put on a big a$$ one.

Also, try installing Omega's drivers from http://www.omegacorner.com.

You've elimated a lot of the common issues by the looks of it. Make sure your chipset drivers are fully updated too.

Finally, turn down the AGP multiplier to 4X and turn off Fast Writes then run the test again.

But why would the video card work on my brothers computer without downclocking it at all??? but then on mine it reboots it. SO i think the video card is ok. ive tried the Omega drivers also they don't work I don't think its a driver conflict or my MB just doesnt like the video card. I mean we had the card in my brothers computer and played Star Wars Galaxies for like 20min with the graphics on high with no gitches. SO i know its not the video card gettting to hot. Nope its not overheating i put a huge 12" fan over the video card u know cooling the whole inside of the case and it still rebooted so the card is perfectly fine . Im pretty set on its the really cheap crappy FIC motherboard just not likeing my CPU because if i look on the specs for the MB it isn't certified to work with a P4 2.4ghz with 133mhz FSB at 18x it is only certified with a 2.4ghz 100mhz FSB at 24x soim guessing the Video card pushes my CPU beond the Motherboards limits.
