The COD fix should be out here pretty soon, the Cat team is working on it very hard. Considering that it is a new game, things like this should be expected to happen from time to time no matter who the Vid card manufacturer is. I really dont think that you can go wrong in getting the 9800 Pro....and with the prices dropping on it, it is a very good deal right now, not to mention a top notch card. Until the fix comes out most of us that are actually having any problems with the one game, are just using the Cat 3.7 drivers. The problem is just a "bug" with the newer release of Cat 3.8/3.9. Dont let it sway you towards a card that you may not be happy with. The IQ of the 9800 Pro is second to none!!
Good luck in your decision.....

I'm using 9700pro and have been testing CoD witrh 3.7, 3.8, 3.9, and 3.9 Omegas- Not one lockup ever- Only problem is some stuttering ONLY when you set charecter and general textures to "EXTRA"- I think that is a problem with the game though. I would get the card- It's fast and has great image quality- You won't believe the speed with all the eyecandy turned on.

yeah the thing is when i say ive had no probs with my 5600 i dont mean just with CoD (btw,i have on extra char/general ) what i mean is with any game...none of the nvidia cards i have ever owned have had wierd stutter/lock up probs.....(with games that my card can more than run)
the thing thats hurting my brain atm is that i know damn well that ATi are making the best cards atm...
i just think that the best card out there should be able to play a game with an old old engine (even if it has been worked off its nut) easily.
but yeah ill go the 9800pro/xt becuse dx9 is the future of gamez , and i can always use this 5600 if i ever "need" too.

Thing you have to keep in mind people in general come here, that do have a problem,
wether it is with not reading the read me's or have a computer that just isn't set up right, or a bad card, and all other kinds of problems,
and i'm shure if you read some NV problems there is not much difference,
there always be some users who just don't bother or just having bad luck..
And in the case of CoD, when was the last time you saw a new game that did not need to be patched?
I bought miy 9700np, and all I'm throwing at it runs, and runs well, but i do take the time to read issues with certain games or drivers,
thing is I never had a lock-up overheathing or other problems with the drivers itself,
and if I had I could blame only myself for doing it wrong..
So in short, don't let all of this put you off, I think you have read alot about the ATI vs NV to make your decision to go for a 9800, so what are you waiting for?

I recommend saving your money and wait until next year. Buying a 9800 Pro will still cost you around $300 after taxes and S&H. Wait a few months, save up some more money, and buy either a R420 or a NV40. NV40 will probably address the architectural shortcomings found in the NV30, NV35, and NV38 line of cards.
Besides, if you have 5600 card, it means you didn't even own it for that long. Although it's shitty, keep using it for a bit longer and buy a better card next year. I bought mine in June, 2003 and I would feel too naughty to buy a new card again so soon!
Anyways, that's my personal preference to only upgrade once a year not because I can't afford it but because it seems to wasteful even in this capitalistic society.

I have Call of Duty, with a 9500pro, Omega drivers.
People have been playing the game at my house this morning for like 7 hours straight, no lockups, or crashes or freezes.
And I'm overclocked @ 2.43GHz, 9500pro@360/300.
