How to measure the ATI 9800 XT temp

hi all

I have a ati radeon 9800 xt, built by ATI version, and wanted to know how to get temp readings for my card. Is there a separate program for it or something.

I have the cats 3.7 on because of the rumers going around that the 3.8s heat your card and mess your monitor up.

So how elase can i monitor and otherclock my card, which programs do i use?

Whats is the stock speeds of the card?

thanks

Mitto

not to sure but as for the 3.8's there were a statement from ati after all these rumers were false.at the least hardly much difference to be conclusive.

these are a few posts you could read.

as for the temps thing i'm not sure but there is one in the 3.8 cats for the 9800xt.

There is no app for thermal read-outs on 9800 XT's.Submit a feature request to ATI.With the on-chip thermal diode I don't think it would be much of a stretch to create us 1.I've submitted a request, maybe with enuff requests we'll get 1.

i will just add i didn't necessarily mean a read out for temps i meant it in the way of fan control for overclocking etc.which were implemented in the 3.8 cats.

http://www.asus.com/products/vga/smartcooling.htm this will explain my meaning.

that is a pic taken from first link i gave that were done by the neon-cowboy.but anyway you could use something like he has done with thermistor stuck on the back of the pcb if possible directly on top of the gpu to give you a reading.
