Thinking about getting a 9800XT!
I got myself 22 hours of OT last week and I'm thinking hard about getting a 9800XT, But they are $500.00
I can get a 9800 Pro for $350.00 at best buy with another $50.00 rebate so then it'll only be $300.00.
yeah yeah I know theres nothing wrong with my 9700 Pro But I just want a 9800 XT/Pro
So what do you guys think? I really dont want to spent 500.00 But I do have it. Is the XT $200.00 better than the 9800Pro?
Thx Veng.....

Eh this one is a toughy.
However, like I always say..what is the point of working if your not going to treat yourself once in awhile. Don't forget you could sell your 9700 Pro to make up some of the price difference.

Yeagh, that 9700pro is still worth at least 200 dollars even used, if not more.

That's a good deal though- I think peeps on ebay would pay 200 or so. What is the cheapest you can find a REAL 9700pro for retail on the net? Plus I think "made by" ATI used is worth more than off brand or "built with" ATI, at least it would be for me if only because of ATI's warrantee.

I should have put it another way, Yes I have $500.00 But theres also other things i can do with the money
I'll probably get the 9800 Pro and Call of Duty should be out as well
And then sell my 9700Pro for $175.00 and free shipping
I can ship it from work
And mine is a built by ATI with an icberq4 heatsink/fan on it. with the blue LED light. And it has memory heatsinks as well.

I would wait until next card comes out, unless you plan on just dropping another 500 on that in a few months- because that 9700p isn't that much slower than the new XT cards really- If you OC it anyway. What game won't it run fast enough for you?

Thats just it, they all run fine lol
Well marrowind with shadows on it can be a slide show, but when I turn them down/off it goes up into the 80's
I'm just being a big kid, I want a 9800 Pro

Yeah, they are nice- the XT's are NICER though
Shadows do kill these cards more than I think they should, but look at MP2- the shadows don't hurt that much at all. Do you OC that card?

I only OC it when I benchmark And then it's only 350 core and 335 memory.
It might go higher, but i've never tryed. Your right about Max Payne 2!
I ran that game at 1280x1024 6xAA and 16xAF with all detail set to Max and I didnt see it slow down not one time!
But then you take a game like marrowind that is what a year and a half old and I run it at 1024x768 and I cant turn on the shadows with out it droping like a dead fly

I would go with the XT, careful about the cooling though. My card died yesterday because the stock cooling fan decided to take a crap on me 3 days after I purchased the card. Once again I am back on my GF2 MX400.
Yes, I did buy a built by ATI, and yes I am taking it back to the store tomorrow.
Just a heads up.

I had one of the fan blades break off on my 9700 Pro, thats why I put a Iceberq 4 on it.
It still ran fine with the broken fan blade, but I was worried that it would be off balance and more would break.
