How to passive cool the 9600 Pro?

Can anyone tell me how it is done? Do you remove the HSF combo and put a Zalman cooler in the same place? Or are the mounting holes elsewhere?

Yes you can do it with the Zalman ZM80C-HP, thats what I did and I love it, but if you never did any hardware mods or even replaced a heatsink for you processor than I dont recommend it, its easy if you have . One thing that I gotta warn you is read the directions that come with it I cant stress that enough read it before you even attempt anything, second have a 2 hour window in which you can do this, this is not something you do in 10 minutes and have patiance this is very delicate operation people have killed their cards before because they werent careful or they were too eager. All the new ATI cards have mounting holes, the Zalman does come with an excellent manual with detailed pictures as long as you follow it then you be fine.

And one more thing the thermal compuound dont use the one that comes with the zalman get acrtic silver ceremique its non-conductive that way you have less chance of killing your card.

You might want to add a Vantec Stealth Fan to that just to make sure.
