Two things:
1) That is really cool of ATI to include
2) It really sucks for us who already have bought our 9800's!

From what i have read, the offer is only for the 9800xt and you get a voucher which when the game is released you can use to buy the game.
I dont think the 9800pro is included. If it is, i want mine lol
Tony.
P.s save 1pound a week and by the time it does come out you will have the money for it!

The bad thing about it is that I think it comes with only the single player game. If you want the multiplayer you a.)buy the full game also or b.)buy & download the mutiplayer part through Steam. I'm really not sure but remember seeing this somewhere.

Im already using steam to play CS 1.6 and team fortress.
I dont know how much truth is in this but i have read in various forums that Hl2 multiplayer will be via steam and you have to pay a monthly charge to use it, i must stress this is only hear say on forums and as far as i know valve have not commented on it.
I dont think they will charge as many under 18's wont be able to play unless there parents pay using credit card each month, not only that but even people with the money might feel once they pay for the game, thats it, no more money Valve!
Tony.

The monthly charge will only apply to the people that have opted to subscribe to steam instead of buying the game from a shop. So those ppl can download and play the single player and multiplayer at a cost of whatever per month.
Nothings stopping anyone from buying the retail game and playing it like that. With the introduction of the lan version of steam soon its said that the only need for steam will be for updating patches. So eventually its gonna be closely back to the way it was with won only with a few ppl not actually having a copy of a game to hold in their hands.
Its quite clever really. When you think of all the people who havent heard of halflife or couldnt find it in a shop to buy, it'll be easier this time for someone to turn around and say 'well get steam and there u go'.
Has Valve seen the future and does it still include cd's?

Well to clear some things up first:
According to the coupon that came w/ my 9800XT you get a free FULL Version of HL2.
Steam is going to have monthly pay accounts, as was mentioned in the above post. However this only applies to people that do not want to go out and purchase the games at their local retailer. The monthly subscription cost will be substantially lower then the purchase price of all of the games to be offered via the Steam delivery system.
For those people, college kids, that can't afford to buy the whole game, but CAN afford a small amount of cash a month this is a steal.

That's hilarious- I'd be pissed. I bet that if you call ATI or write them a ltter/e-mail, they will give you the voucher if you show them the proof.

They changed the URL.
The original coupon that you had to fill out etc. etc. doesn't seem to be linked. Originally at the bottom of that coupon under terms and conditions it said what I posted there. It looks like they changed their terms and conditions a bit.
This is from the FAQ:
Q4: Who is eligible for this offer?
Customers who purchased a qualifying RADEON™ Technology Graphics Card with the Half-Life® 2 promotional offer (i.e. Customers who received a Half-Life® 2 coupon included with their purchase –or- Customers who received instructions on their cash register receipt to obtain their coupon) and create their STEAM account prior to Half-Life 2 ships qualify for the offer.
Q5: Which products are bundled with the Half-Life® 2 promotional offer?
ATI is offering the Half-Life 2 promotion with the following products:
Built By ATI qualifying products (available in North American Retail, only)
RADEON™ 9800XT
RADEON™ 9600XT
ALL-IN-WONDER® 9600 PRO
RADEON™ 9600 SE
Or
Graphics By ATI qualifying products (available worldwide)
RADEON™ 9800XT
RADEON™ 9800 PRO
RADEON™ 9800
RADEON™ 9600XT
ATI is also working with our North American retail partners to offer the Half-Life® 2 bundle through limited time promotions at their stores. (You can obtain details directly from retail locations)

Just saw this @ http://csnation.counter-strike.net/
Big Steam News
Nathan D. @ 6:09 pm - cstrike pc - 68 comments - hot topic (new comments!)
Numerous things are coming up fast pertaining to Steam.
First off, the Steam Network will be optimized and performance will be improved greatly soon. The Steam Network is guaranteed to perform at an optimum level for the Counter-Strike: Condition Zero rollout. New content servers and plenty of bandwidth will be added to handle the load in the next couple of weeks. Also (new): Before the release of CS:CZ, VALVe will need to test these changes to see how they hold up under lots of stress. Stay tuned for details of how you can help us test the network (and get some free stuff in the process).
Secondly, offline/LAN play is nearing completion. This means that you will be able to play any Steam game while not connected to the Internet. It will only be necessary for you to be connected to let Steam download content.
Thirdly, about 50% of the community has migrated to using Steam as the way to play Steam games. The WON authentication system won't go away until Steam is ready for the entire user base. There isn't an exact date at this time.
Forthly, the banning system that bans duplicate or bad CD-Keys has now caught up. For a while, it was behind. Cheaters in CS are dissappearing more and more everyday.
And last but not least, VALVe is getting ready to ship out CS:CZ and make the game available through Steam. The in-store date and the Steam release date will be the same day. Watch your Steam Games Menu for details.
Keep monitoring CS-Nation as we will keep you posted.
For all of those worried about using Steam to play HL2 SP/LAN have nothing to fear now.

Why would they be including the voucher in the 9600 SE, but not the 9600 Pro? And why have the terms changed so much since the original post?
