help... ATI or NVIDIA which one
Hello...
I am looking at getting a new v-card. The reason why is that my 8500le went bad (fan, should had fixed it) and I returned it and got the 9000pro (they didn't have a 8500le in stock). I am not really happy with the 9000pro. Luckily I can take the 9000pro back and get a different card.
The cards I am looking at are... 9200 8x 128mb (non pro), 9600 pro 128mb and the geforce fx 5200 128mb.
The 9600 and 5200 I would have to give up $70 more, the 9200 I can get at the same price as the 9000 (so even money) Or should I keep my 9000.
When you tell me which one could you please give the reasons why you are picking that one? Thanks

ATI.
Simple as that.
And I suggest the Sapphire 9500 nonpro, it overclocks like a beaut with 3.0ram, make sure it's the RED PCB and L-shaped memory.
You just do a softmod and it automatically becomes a 9700pro! 8pipeslines, 256bit... it's a great deal for what it costs (around $140 USD?)
check www.newegg.com, or www.ebay.com

Sorry some things I should had said...
I am into gaming a lot (online also). I mostly play BF1942.
I do wish I could go to the 9700 or 9800 but I just don't have the money for it right now.
I have omega divers installed on the 9000 and the card is over clocked at 303/303 (stock was 275/275), but I think I have to turn that down to around 300/300 because when play BF for about 10 min. I start to get a little choppy.
I thank that is all, but if you think of more info you need let me know. Thanks again.

9600pro (dont even dare to compare it to the GFFX5200u for the price ) the 9200pro should be enought, but it is a non-pro so it doesnt worth it

9600pro would be preferable.especially against fx5200 they are more or less the same specs as gf4mx420/440 performance so i have seen in other threads on dh.

comparisons--------------> fx5200 is lousier than a gf4mx, 5200 < gf4mx, and the Radeon 9500pro is better than the gf4ti4800, 9500pro > gf4ti4800, and an Oced 9600pro can outperform its brother, so that makes it 9600pro (Oced) > 9500pro......see the differences??...~LOL   cheers mate..

Dont get the 9200 - its the same card as your 9000 but with AGP8x.
Get the 9600...the 5200 gives about the same performance (speed wise) as the 9200.

Ok it looks like so far to spend the extra $70.00 for the ATI 9600 pro, that would be $199.99.
But if more people read this... Please tell me what you think.

Most 8500LE's are better than the ti200. (i've had several of both). If its an LE at 250/250 its going to better (faster and better IQ - and more advanced pixdel shaders)...
If its clocked anywhere between 250/ 200-250 then its going to be about the same speed as a ti200 and the LE will only win on features and IQ.

Yeah,
in the days of the 8500 ATI didnt use the pro/non pro names. They used LE to signify Light Edition or something.
So as you now have 9000pro and 9000 non pro back then you had 8500 and 8500LE.
So a full retail 8500 is clocked at 275/275 and a 8500LE is clocked at 250/250 (or 250/xxx).

also, a 9000pro has been known to outperform 9100 and 9200 so i wouldnt go with 9200. the FX 5200 is genuinely a pice of crap, dont get that. i;d suggest either sticking with your 9000 or getting the 9600.
and maxxypoos, an OC'ed 9500pro > OC'ed 9600 pro =)
