9700 or 9700 Pro?

I bought a Powercolor Radeon 9700 non-pro. But when I look in device manager it shows up as a 9700 Pro! Not that I mind or anything but... Which card do I have? I loaded up Powerstrip and my card also shows up as a 9700 Pro there, but the clock speed is 270 Mhz memory and 276 engine. Those numbers seem to indicate that its a non-pro.

So my question is, what card do I really have? Is it a 9700 Pro that has somehow been "dumbed down" to a non-pro? And the next logical question is, can I flash this card or do anything to turn it into a "real" Pro card?

Thanks in advance for your answers. I've pasted Powerstrip's diag report below in case you want to see it. BTW, I'm running Catalyst 3.5, and I have a Soyo K7V Dragon Plus! MB (KT-266a), an unlocked Athlon 1700+ oc'd to an 1800+, and 512mb Crucial RAM. I don't know what bios version my card is at - how can I find out?

It's a non-pro. The text displayed in Device Manager is controlled by whats in the .inf files during installation. So you could change it to "Super Duper 9900 Ultra Pro MAXX" if you really wanted to

Can you look at the ram chips on the card and type in everything they say here, it will give us a better idea if you can flash the BIOS and what speeds you can expect.

Big Grin

Hey, where can I get one of those Super Duper 9900 Ultra Pro MAXX cards?

Ok, here's what I found on the ram chips. I assume they're ram chips; there are 4 chips that are marked the same and are the largest chips visible on the boards. The print is very tiny and I don't have a magnifier, so here is what I believe is written on them:

HY5DU283222
F-36 310A
KOR 7T43712P <== this is what's on the "fan" side of the card.

on the non-fan side of the card, everything on the chips is the same except for the last sequence of numbers reads 7T43762P.

Thanks!
