9600 Pro Overclocking Inquiry

Hi everybody... just new to this board here.

I just bought an ATI RADEON 9600 PRO and am currently using the OMEGA DRIVERS 2.4.60
Along with the drivers came the Radclock utility for overclocking the card. Before I go and play with the speeds, I just wanted to know if any of you have the same card and what kinds of successes you've had with overclocking.

Any info (driver and speeds) would be much appreciated. This is my first ATI vid card, so I'm not too sure what to expect in the overclocking field. I've tried doing research, but all the review sites I've been to all have sample boards

Well... thanks in advance. As soon as I get more experience with ATI boards, I'll hopefully be able to help you guys out as well.

Firstly welcome to Driverheaven, nice to see new faces.

Several applications you can use for this are either Rage3dtweak or powerstrip, which should once installed give you the accurate default clock speeds for both core and memory speeds. And both offer an overclocking tab for both these options. Remember that Powerstrip will throw up a reminder message to pay for and will become annoying after a while so rage3dtweak is probably your best bet for the meantime.

When overclocking I suggest you install 3dmark2001se if you havent already and set it to "bench" on nature test 4 as this is a good graphics card test and will quickly show any problems with overclocking.

Raise your core and memory speeds slowly and run nature test 4 watching out for graphic errors, sparklies or lines appearing in this test. This is a good indication you are overstressing the card and if you see these, just lower to the last settings.

The 9600 pro I have hits over 500 core 24/7 but of course every card is different and you will get different results, but the good news is the card you have is a great overclocker and runs reasonably cool due to the 0.13 arch and you will be able to hit alot higher speeds than the defaults.

Good luck and let us know how it goes !
