how do i connect my 4870 to my TV?

I have a saphire 4870 and want to connect it to my tv...its not a flat screen, theres no H(i think, dont know much about this stuff). Its not too old, but definitely not new stuff. It has those 3 plugs on it for the wii or other games with the yellow, white, and red holes. I dont know what else is on the Tv....

Re: how do i connect my 4870 to my TV?

Does it have GREEN RED BLUE similare holes to? if not your going to start having some interesting problems...

if it doesn't have those you NEED the DIN to Svideo/RCA yellow adapter, which will then run to the yellow port on the back of the tv. These are starting to be somewhat hard to come by as they are no longer being bundled with alot of hardware. (obsolete)

be forwarned, when using this type of connnection, your limited to 1024x768 and you'll find it nearly impossible to read anything on the screen without blowing it up passed 105DPI for font sizes or 150% zoomed or better.

Re: how do i connect my 4870 to my TV?

You have S-Video or Scart on the back of your TV? That's how I have to do it. Fortunately I have an S-Video out on my 3870X2 so it's very easy that way. If you don't I don't know if there is any kind of way to convert HDMI to S-Video or something like that..

If you have an S-video out on the card and an S-video on the back of your tv, should look like this on the card,

File:S-Video 7-pin quasi-DIN connector.JPG - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

you can just get an ordinary S-Video cable.

If you don't have S-Video on the back of your TV but a Scart you'll need an adapter from S-Video to Scart, looks like this.

For sound you then need a cable with 3.5mm plug for the soundcard in one end and audio RCA in the other.

This is the way I have to do it since I have no S-Video on my TV and I run the sound to my stereo instead of into the tv.
