Woth upgrading a 4870 512 to 1 gig card?

Just kind of curious. Would there be much diffrence in performance in upgrading from an HD 4870 512 card to a 1 gig card? I'd consider getting an X2 card but then I'd most likely also have to buy a new PSU as my current one is only 650 Watt. Also which brand is seeming the most reliable these days. Currently have a 4870 512 by Sapphire but was considering a diffrent brand if its worth upgrading

its not really worth upgrading unless you plan to go beyond 1920x1200.... very few games have that many texture details to require 1GB of VRAM

if you plan to use 2560x1600 or have it then you would probably need 1GB

My new monitor is a 24"WS but its highest resolution is 1920x1200 so sounds like maybe I can put off another upgrade

you probably can use a 4870X2 if you want, if your PSU is a quality one, even at 650w, it should handle well....

At 1920x1200 a 4870 is fine, you won't notice the difference.
