Can someone please explain to me why my gfx card, while playing world of warcraft, it actually runs better with Vertical Sync and Triple Buffering on? I don't get it at all, usually with every other gfx card I've ran across it's actually the opposite.

Also, why does smoke and fire lag the hell out of me for not much of a reason at all? I realize that the fire and smoke in WoW is transparent therefore it has to recalculate everything behind it.. but I would think with the x600 it could pretty much handle it easily.

Don't know, it's quite frustrating. I've tried the Omega Drivers, regular 8.7 Cat Drivers, AND the 8.7 Cat Mobility Drivers. All the drivers petty much work at the same performance for me.. if someone could offer the best drivers all around for my graphics card, that'd be cool. Thanks.

For so old card I would say that you should use some older drivers like CAT 7.11. The CAT 8.XX series of drivers don't really have much improvements for the old cards. As for vsync I don't have no idea why it runs better. Best guess is that vsync works as it should, it's designed to avoid tearing and and same goes for triple buffering, is what it says it is a buffer to avoid tearing in the graphics.

So you think anything before 7.11? I forget which version of Omega Drivers I had before.. they were old, worked great.

Also do you have any take on how to reduce the lag coming from smoke or fire in WoW? Actually pretty much any game where something is transparent and it has to recalculate.

As for the drivers go, should I use Mobility Cat Drivers, Regular Cat Drivers, or Omega Drivers? Either way thank you for your reply if you don't get back to me.

We have in Omega's based on CAT 7.12 in here : link. I think they would be good for your laptop.

The only thing I can come up to change the detail settings in the game setup. To reduce the lag.
