Driver issues with Radeon Mobility x1600
Hi, I have an Acer (TERRIBLE COMPANY) laptop (5672wlmi) with a Radeon x1600 Mobility. The factory drivers are two years old and the system has countless problems with new games, especially anything using VALVe's Source engine (HL2, HL2EP1, CS:S, etc).
I've tried using both Omega Drivers and the DH Mod tool to install newer drivers, but either way I still have serious issues with my Source games crashing with video-related issues (except Portal, which runs perfectly...)
I tried explaining the compatibility problems to the guy who programmed the DH Mod a few months ago, but he basically accused me of lying and said they work perfectly with everything...

Hi there!
What kind of problems you have with source games? The game just freezes? or just closes?
What driver versions you have used? Did you have uninstalled the previous drivers before installing the new ones?

I've read your and Spikes conversation on the subject and as far as I can tell he didn't say that you were lying.

Maybe I blew it out of proportion in my memory. I'm pretty sure I recall he wasn't willing to try to help.
Counter-Strike: Source runs sometimes and freezes other times, but Half-Life 2 and Episode 1 both just crash to desktop, sometimes with an error message (" Internal driver error in IDirect3DDevice9::Present() ") and other times with no message. Rarely, the laptop will blue-screen and the error was caused by an ATI dll.

The issues what you are having are obviously driver related. Have you tried the newest version of Catalyst drivers??

Obviously they are driver-related, as that's the title of the thread.

The newest ones, if I need to be more specific. I think Acer adjusted some of the hardware settings on the card or something, and nobody's willing to take the time to consider how to adjust their drivers to fix it.
