my HD2600 doesn't have a stable onboard clock oscillator :(

Hi there,

I've got a Sapphire HD2600 that gives stunning results on a HC3100 DLP projector with HD movies.

But I'm starting to realize that it doesn't have a stable onboard clock oscillator

I can get rock stable 24.000fps in 1280*768 48Hz, but not in 24/72/96Hz....it's always oscilatting between 23.99x and 24.00x :banghead:

same goes for 1920*1080 24/48Hz....not stable at all

even worse, it's UNABLE to output 1280*720 48.000Hz, the best it can do is 48.545Hz

OTOH everything's fine in 720p@72Hz :

but my 1280*720 48.545Hz ends up in 24.273fps in MPC HC :

is there any recent ATi card with more sensitive/stable oscillator around ?

a friend of mine has copied my 1280*720@48Hz powerstrip settings in his 8600GT drivers, and he ends up with 48.004Hz in Reclock.....so I don't know whether Powerstrip is at fault, or if my videocard oscillator is not sensitive/stable enough

TIA,

in 1280*768 48.000Hz, the system clock in Reclock is on 2857460.00 Hz +0.00 Hz (+/- 0.00 ppm)....and the frame rate is rock stable in MPC HC on 24.000
in 1024*768 96.000Hz, it's on +2.63 Hz (+/- 0.00 ppm)....yet the frame rate in MPC HC is oscillating like crazy between 23.99x and 24.00x
I would appreciate rock stable frame rate in any given situation........or at least in 1280*768 72/75Hz so I get less RBE on my DLP projector....but right now it's also fluctuating like crazy between 23.99x and 24.00x....

only 1280*768 48Hz is rock solid :

and this is 1280*768 72Hz, which is not rock solid and drops frames....with the risk of stuttering like crazy after 40/50 mins :

Thread moved to ATi cards forums since this looks like it isn't driver problem.
