why don't i beleive those....

considering that i can't see ATI dropping the flagship model type...

i mean the x2 is flagship right now, but i'm fairly certain that they'd rather spit out a 4900x2 rather then stick with there lower modle rating system..

well perhaps not....

but the core memory combinations don't seem right.

well, seeing as a german site published these numbers, I am not entirely sure whether to believe them or not. I haven't found anything about these anywhere else.
We'll see what turns out to be true about these figures.

But when it is true, it would make some great cards for a reasonable price

why would 4850 & 4870 be so close in price, they're (3850 & 3870) not like that now are they?

I don't believe it, it wouldn't make sense to put GDDR5 memories running at 1800Mhz or 2200Mhz since the GDDR4 ones can do that and are problably cheaper and have lower latencys.

according to Samsung the GDDR5 memories utilize 20% less energy then GDDR3, maybe that's the reason to use GDDR5 memory.

and this article tells us some more:

GDDR5 is designed in a way to only consume power when really needed. Several features and methods are implemented in a way to allow a demand driven power management:

* Extremely wide clock frequency range and data rates
* Multi level, demand driven termination enabling
* Low power modes for DRAM core
* Low supply voltage of 1.5V
* Data and address bit inversion
* Power-down and self refresh modes

Hmm...It looks really good, i heard it is 50% better than the HD3k series.Just wondering...I might buy a HD3870 X2 next month, do u guys think its worth waiting more four long months to get a HD4870 X2 with a temporary card(like a 7300GT or something like that).

BTW, now i realised it means 1800mhz, but it's not the effective(DDR), so its actually 3600mhz o.O thats a lot...

Appears underwhelming, a slightly beefed up HD3xxx series...which was just beefed up HD2xxx?
