First of all, hi all!
I'm new here, so, i'm sorry if this has been asked before (yes, I've searched, but didn't find anything that does work) I bought myself a new rig for christmas, wich consists of a Intel E6850, 4gb Kingston HyperX 1066, and a P5E (X38 Chipset, Crossfire @ x16/x16). It came with Vista Ultimate 32bit, and everything was ok, I later installed the 64bit version of it, and had no problems whatsoever either, however, now when I go to catalyst control center, it only shows me one graphics card (In windows device manager both show up...). I used to play NWN 2 with everything maxed @ constant 60fps, and now I get like... 15, 20 fps, 30 at most, so crossfire is not enabled for shure. I've tried diferent versions of drivers, formated the hard drive and made a fresh windows install, and I keep getting the same lame problem. Any thoughts? Thanks! *Edit* Btw, I have a 700w PSU |

1 thing right off: PSU isn't a problem.
NWN2 is well known to have x64 issues (it's technically not supported), but there are things that must be done before you try running it: be sure to use the latest graphics drivers (no brainer), be sure to have the x64 DOT Net 2.0 (.net 2.0) installed, be sure that the latest build of Direct X is installed, be sure that the game is fully updated (the game must be at least at version 1.02 to run under x64). Also, the biggest problem with NWN2 isn't the game itself, but Securom. Something to try would be to turn off Crossfire mode, and check your FPS again. Secondly, be sure you update NWN2 as the 1.02 patch has fixes for x64 OS, specifically to do with Securom as it is the component that doesn't have x64 support. Also, it should be noted that the fact that the second card isn't showing up in the Catalyst Control Center is correct since you have it hooked up, and running in Crossfire mode. The only time it will show up as a separate card is when you are using the second card for display purposes. By that I mean you have the second card connected to a monitor, and are running that display with that card (off hand I think it will show up if you disable Crossfire too, but I can say that with certainty at the moment). Edit: I am going to assume you own the game, so what I'm about to suggest is based on that fact (just covering my butt here), and it's more of a test than anything else. To get around the copy protection problem you might want to try using a no-cd, or cracked executable. This way the copy protection won't be an issue since you'd be completely bypassing it. Unfortunately I can't tell you where to get one from, but if you do search on Google you will easily find one. Last version I saw was for version 1.11.1153 (be sure to back the original, and never update). Of course, if this doesn't solve the problem be sure to put back the original file so that you can continue to get updates. Last edited by Tipstaff; Jan 3, 2008 at 06:42 AM. |

I do have the original gold pack, nwn 2 & expansion pack, but that's not the main issue here... I used to be able to go into CCC and change clocks on both gfx cards, and other settings individually, with and without crossfire enabled, and now, I can only see the "master" 3870 on ccc, with crossfire on or off...
Besides that... I used get 60+ fps on that game, and overnight I get only 15? wtf... I've tried swapping them to see if any of them has a problem, but everything is ok. |
