Hi my name is Scott and I have been an ATI user for over 5 years. I got my 9800 Pro about 5 years ago as of last week it fried and I went to my local best buy and purchased the HD2600 Pro. Excited to try the new card out I quickly installed it into my computer and ran the CD that came with it (I am running Windows XP Home SP2) to my dismay the drivers notified me at the setup that I didn't have the necessary requirements. Mind you I've never had problems with my drivers as I am very computer savvy. So anyways I went to the visiontek website and downloaded there's and it works perfectly, but i'm a huge gamer and I loved the Omega drivers, tried them got same message tried older catalyst same message I didn't have necessary requirements so I am posting to see if A) I am missing something or did something wrong. or B) Is this common and is there any drivers that work the best for this particular card. It is said to be 512mb but honestly haven't noticed a difference from my old 9800 pro 128mb card. Sorry for the long read please respond with your thoughts on this matter.

Greetings and welcome to DriverHeaven!
First of all, you may be able to get the Omegadrivers to install if you follow the instructions to do a Manual Update of the drivers. Secondly, there are so many new cards out that many of them are not yet included in the driver database to be automatically included during the normal installation process. Therefore, the package doesn't 'recognize' the particular video card and throws up that error message. Simply do this: Go to Device Manager and expand the Graphics adapter option. Double click on the adapter showing. (There should be a Primary and a Secondary. Do the Primary first.) You want to Update Driver. When prompted, do NOT let Windows automatically install the drivers. You want to do the "Have Disk..." option and then point to where the Omegadrivers were extracted. Once you start the update of the drivers, you'll get another prompt/warning. Select "Continue anyway..." and, hopefully, you'll have the Primary adapter installed. Repeat the process for the Secondary. Also, Omegadrivers do NOT include the WDM files so you'll need to grab those from the ATI/AMD website. Good luck!

After downloading the Omega Drivers 3.8.421 FIXED off NGOHQ I extracted ran the setup and got a "INF Error Video Driver Not Found" then clicking OK brings up another promt stating "Setup was unable to complete the installation. Try to setup your display adapter with a standard VGA driver before running setup."
When running "Autorun" from the CD provided with my GFX Card which says Catalyst 8.41 I get the error "Setup did not find a driver compatible with your current hardware or operating system. Setup will now exit. So neither worked...what now??? What are the drivers people using this card use??? |

So far, you haven't actually shown that you've done (or attempted) a manual installation of the drivers as I described previously. Running the 'setup.exe' isn't doing the manual installation at all.
Also, you must have the AGP version of the card and some people are having problems since CAT 7.7 with AGP working properly. Also, what chipset is on your motherboard?
