Radon 1270 help needed for Win XP

Just purchased a dell Inspiron 1721 with AMD 64 / Vista 62 2 GB DDRII. HATE WINDOWS VISTA!. Slow memory pig, drags this machine down to a old 8088!. Uninstalled Vista, reloaded Windows XP Pro 32 Bit. Cannot get ATI graphics driver to work. Card is a ATI Radon 1270 with 256 MB Mem. Dell will not respond. they tell me "the machine is designed for Vista 64 only. I dont beleive that.

Can anyone help?

First of all, welcome to DriverHeaven!

Now, since installing XP on this system, have you installed the motherboard drivers and chipset? That needs to be done prior to proceeding with other device driver installation.

Which motherboard exactly is in the system?

Please read the "Having Problems? Need Some Help?" announcement and then reply with more information, please.
