The "ati2evxx.exe" file and computer crashes with FSX
Over recent months I have had problems running FSX, the computer crashes/restarts 10 minutes into a flight when in full screen mode, but it does not crash if in Windows mode.
I have:
Updated DirectX to June07 version
Updated to latest Omega drivers
Run Prime95 for 20 hours+, no errors reported; CPU reached 47C and video card 52C
Removed all addons
Uninstalled and re-installed FSX and ran in default conditions
None of this eliminated the crashing in FSX, and evidence started pointing to a sub standard power supply, only giving 18A on each of two 12v rails, whereas the X1950XT calls for 30A at12v.
But then I tried EndItAll before flying and my computer crashing stopped. I eventually isolated the problem to two copies of the same file – ati2evxx.exe. I have renamed these and this appears to have stopped the computer crash/restart problems in FSX.
Will there be any serious consequences to terminating the functions of this file. And does anyone have any observations on the high amperage demand of this ATI X1950XT card in relation to today’s PSU’s

It's not necessary to run your computer. I think it's a component of the "ATI Hotkey Poller" service, which I have disabled (and there are no ati2evxx.exe's running). It hasn't caused any errors so far. Admittedly, however, your card is a lot newer than mine and so really can't be compared >_>

Thx for the link, very interesting that it should be an ATI file messing up my ATI card! I have done as the previous link and disabled ATI HotKey Poller and the ati2evxx.exe files are not loading. I am flying without problems so far. But I think I will be heading for a better PSU in the future.
regards
Nigel

Just for the record, if you use ATT with your ATI card, Ray Adam's strongly advises turning off that ATI Hotkey Poller. I always do so.
Glad to know you're having fun again.
A better PSU never hurts.
