Custom Resolution
I think that I'm out of luck but I'll ask this question before I give up.
I have an ATI Rage LT Pro AGP 2X video board. (Yeah. It's ancient)
I bought a new monitor and am trying to get 1680x1050 resolution.
The latest drivers for my video board are a 1998 version and they don't support widescreen resolutions.
I've tried a program called Powerstrip but it doesn't support my board either.
Does anyone know of a way to force my board to generate 1680x1050 custom resolution.
-ATI Rage LT Pro AGP 2X video board
-Windows 98SE
-Acer AL2216WBD Monitor
I know, I know - you'll tell me to get with the program and upgrade. This is an old computer that is used as a back up. (I just got a great deal on the new monitor.)

try this
http://www.pagehosting.co.uk/rf/
download refresh force, see if you can punch in 1680x1050 (60hz) manually and apply it, you may have to reboot... see what happens... (no guarantee though)

The refresh force web site says that the program is for Win 2000/XP. I'm using Win 98SE. Do you think it will screw up anything if I try it anyway?

Answered my own question.....
I tried to run the program but got an error message telling me that I had an incompatible operating system.
Any other suggestions?

sorry, that was the best alternative i could think of or find.
Only other option may be to get windows XP.... but even then it's no guarantee as the products just aren't supported at all anymore.
